Auction Procedure - Consigners' Side

Would you like to sell your collection or consign it to an auction house, but you don't know exactly what that might entail for you?
Then this is precisely the place for you! We would be glad to give a brief look into the procedures involved in a consignment. Simply follow our small guide....

After years of activity as a collector, you have now decided to sell your stamp or coin collection. You are looking for a stamp auction house you can trust, and have decided in favour of the auction house Edgar Mohrmann & Co. GmbH in Hamburg, Germany. As a result of nearly 80 years of experience in the stamp business, this auction house is available to you as a competent, trustworthy partner. Both nationally and internationally, with the auction house Edgar Mohrmann you have found a guarantor for completing business professionally and achieving outstanding auction results, backed up by a buyer potential that has grown over decades.
German law applies for all contracts and agreements.

Once you have made contact with us, one of our philatelists or numismatists will pay you a visit in the town where you live. During this appointment our specialist will appraise your collection and discuss all questions related to the auction with you. It goes without saying that this service is free of charge and not binding for you in any way. Of course, you are welcome to send us goods, too. If you prefer an outright sale against cash payment, we are buyers who decide quickly at all times, regardless of the scale involved. An advance payment towards anticipated auction proceeds does not present a problem for us, either.

You receive a consignment confirmation from us in which we specify precisely what has been consigned. Your collection shall be meticulously processed by our experts and offered under aspects which promote sales. We take the topic of security very seriously as well, which is why your collection is insured against all risks while with us. Unlike many other auction houses, with us you pay no costs for photos, no handling charges for lots, and no charges for returned lots. Besides a customary consigner commission, merely an insurance charge amounting to 0.5 %o of the hammer price is incurred.

We present your collection in our colourful auction catalogue designed at a very high level of quality. The catalogue is published about 5 weeks before the stamp auction. You can also leaf through the auction catalogue online in the internet on our website at www.edgar-mohrmann.de. On the day of the auction we look forward to the chance to welcome you as a guest to our premises. Your hunger or thirst shall be attended to, and we make your stay as pleasant as possible through personal stewardship on the part of our staff of many years.

We would be glad to help you book your hotel or in planning your excursions. Each year consigners and buyers visit us from all parts of the globe: Hamburg is a cosmopolitan city and worth a trip no matter when. The results from auction days are posted on the internet right away. That way we ensure that comprehensive information is also made available to those consigners who were unfortunately unable to visit us in person.

In compliance with the specified period of 5 weeks following the auction you receive the auction settlement invoice and payment of the proceeds. Payment naturally occurs just as you have agreed with us: per bank transfer, per cheque, or of course in cash, too. It goes without saying that discretion prevails thereby.

If you have any questions or require advisory consulting, please do not hesitate to ring us up.
You can reach us at 0049 04 689 47 00, or via e-mail at auktion@edgar-mohrmann.de

We look forward to your call!
